On Wednesday, November 1, Vision2Voice team members stepped away from their desks for a volunteer outing to help feed those in need. Our Omaha office volunteered at Food Bank for the Heartland, an organization whose mission is to fight against hunger by connecting their community with food and resources.
During the outing, we packaged meals for the Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry Program. The team formed an assembly line to build cardboard boxes and fill them with shelf-stable items for Food Bank for the Heartland to later deliver to communities with a high need but limited sources of pantry food. During this time,1,854 lbs of food were processed and well over 100 cases were packed. The efforts of volunteers in packing up these items allow Food Bank for the Heartland to host 376 mobile pantries in 48 counties and distribute more than 3.2 million meals. Our Omaha office is so grateful to be part of this effort.
Meanwhile, our Chicago office spent the morning at Feed My Starving Children, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide nutritious meals to communities who are malnourished and have limited food resources.
As a team, we created assembly lines to help package MannaPacks®. Each person on the assembly line had a specific function. Some team members filled the packets with soy, vegetables, and rice while others were responsible to ensure ingredients were restocked so that the completed bags could be weighed and sealed for shipping. The Chicago office helped package a total of 343 meals that were then sent to Haiti through EL Shaddai Ministries International on November 7, 2023.
A special thank you goes out to Omaha’s Food Bank for the Heartland and Chicago’s Feed My Starving Children organizations for providing us the opportunity to give back to our communities near and far and be part of improving the lives of others.
