In the fast-evolving world of MedComm, innovation is more than a buzzword—it’s a necessity. At Vision2Voice (V2V), innovation means harnessing the latest technology to simplify complex processes, enhancing engagement between healthcare professionals, and empowering clients with actionable insights. It’s about creating solutions that not only meet today’s needs but anticipate tomorrow’s challenges. From AI-driven advocate management systems to bespoke platforms tailored to BioPharma, V2V is redefining what innovation looks like in MedComm—seamlessly blending technology with a deep understanding of the human connections at the heart of healthcare.
We recently held a roundtable discussion with V2V’s Technology Innovation Team – Howard Drazner, Executive Vice President; Michelle Haag, Senior Director, Technology Innovation and Creative Services; and Ibrahim Mohammed, Director, Technology Solutions – to explore the company’s focus in this area. Here’s what they shared:
How do you define innovation in MedComm?
Howard: When we talk about innovation in MedComm, it can mean a lot of different things. But the way we see it, it’s all about leveraging the latest technologies, strategies, and trends to make medical information easier to share, access, and understand. Technology is the backbone of our service offerings and, from that perspective, innovation covers several areas such as:
- Designing intuitive platforms that empower clients to access critical data faster
- Using technology to improve communication with, and engagement between, healthcare professionals
- Adapting to changing compliance requirements by integrating secure, real-time data across platforms
- Using emerging technologies like AI and data analytics to provide better insights to clients
At V2V, we’re driving innovation through our in-house Technology Solutions group. This means we can develop applications specifically for the BioPharma sector, giving us better control and allowing for more targeted solutions that make a difference in how we deliver peer-to-peer education.
Why did V2V form a dedicated Technology Innovation Team?
Michelle: We created the Technology Innovation Team at V2V to ensure we’re always offering cutting-edge solutions that address our clients’ evolving needs. By bringing together team members with diverse expertise—technology, design, and BioPharma—we can develop applications and bespoke digital solutions that are not just functional but also highly relevant to our clients’ real-world challenges. This collaborative approach lets us anticipate user demands, fine-tune solutions to address the subtle nuances of our clients’ business rules, and stay ahead in a rapidly changing tech landscape.
What kinds of innovations are our clients asking for?
Ibrahim: Our clients are always looking for ways to make data more secure, accessible and actionable. Many struggle with interpreting insights from traditional formats like Excel and are asking for more intuitive and visual tools to understand key metrics such as KOL influence and social connections.
While they might not explicitly request “innovation,” it’s clear they value solutions customized to address their specific requirements. Our approach goes beyond what’s currently available by creating platforms that provide a richer experience compared to standard “off-the-shelf” enterprise solutions.
How will V2V’s new platform for identifying, mapping, and managing KOL relationships better serve our clients?
Michelle: V2V’s upcoming update to our Advocate Management Gateway is all about making it easier for our clients to manage KOL relationships. By integrating emerging trends in tech like AI, we’re simplifying the process so they can focus on what matters—getting meaningful insights—without having to become data experts.
Instead of wrestling with complex datasets or figuring out filters, they will simply ask questions naturally, like they would in a conversation, and get the answers they need. It’s like moving from clunky, old-school search engines to something that works the way you think. It’s faster, simpler, and more intuitive. Ultimately, it will give our clients confidence to make smarter decisions with accurate data.
What role do you see AI playing in MedComm and peer-to-peer strategies?
Ibrahim: AI is opening up exciting possibilities for our industry, but its role is still evolving. For example, AI could help ensure compliance by checking that all communications align with company policies, which is valuable for highly regulated industries like ours. At the same time, we need to be cautious, as compliance often involves navigating gray areas that require human judgment. On the practical side, AI is already proving useful for streamlining repetitive tasks like generating reports or automating routine communications. Looking ahead, AI’s potential to act as a “team member”—handling data queries, automating document preparation, or even supporting HCP interactions—could transform how we work, but its adoption will depend on public acceptance and ethical boundaries. For now, it’s about balancing innovation with thoughtful integration.
What new developments are on the horizon to improve HCP engagement?
Howard: Enhancing HCP engagement is a multifaceted challenge, made even more dynamic by the rapid pace of technological advancements. While we can’t predict every innovation, the key is to stay flexible and use tools like AI to our advantage. For example, AI has the potential to analyze past HCP engagement data to spot trends, figure out what resonates most, and help us refine our strategies. It can also personalize outreach, tailoring content to each HCP’s specialty, interests, or therapeutic area. Going forward, using AI to better understand what individual HCPs really care about will make our communication much more targeted and effective. But at the end of the day, it’s still about fostering authentic peer-to-peer connections—technology should enhance those interactions, not replace them.
