KOL Spotlight in Medicine: Dr. Wallace Duff

A discussion on povidone-iodine treatments and their effect on viruses such as COVID-19

In the first of the Vision2Voice KOL Spotlight in Medicine Video Series, President Dan Rehal sits down with Dr. Wallace Duff to talk about his work in the otolaryngology field, specifically related to the prevention of COVID-19 with povidone-iodine (iodopovidone). During his time serving in the Vietnam War, Dr. Duff began exploring the use of povidone-iodine treatments for viral ear infections which was so successful that he continued his research to include other treatment use cases. His pioneering work with povidone-iodine has led him to become a thought leader in medical prevention for infection and viruses, including multiple COVID-19 variants beyond vaccinations. With more than 30 years of practicing medicine, Dr. Duff has his own surgical practice, and is an associate professor of medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

In this Spotlight interview, Dr. Duff suggests that povidone-iodine can be used as an additional preventative agent from viruses, specifically COVID-19. Administered through the ears, nose, or throat, this solution can lessen the viral load of diseases and prevent further symptoms and sickness.

“It’s a prevention. If you get the disease (COVID-19) and still use it, it’ll get the viral load down”

– Dr. Duff

The simplest treatment requiring the combination of only two products, povidone-iodine, and a nasal saline solution, can be easily administered through the nose. In addition to its simplicity, this prevention is cost-effective and readily available at any drugstore.

This video takes you through how to make a povidone-iodine nasal spray, administer the treatment, explores the preventative benefits, the research behind the science, and more. See below for links to multiple studies referenced by Dr. Duff.
